Dr. Hatam established Blue Bell Periodontics to be a modern, state-of-the-art facility for periodontal and implant surgery. She has extensive experience and expertise in Implantology as surgical faculty of the Implant and Oral Surgery Department of the Penn Dental Network - a high-volume practice associated with the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, Dr. Hatam has practiced periodontics in numerous general dental practices and multi-specialty offices outside of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Hatam received her dental degree from Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany. She started her professional career as a teaching instructor in the Department of Periodontology at the same University. To advance in the field of Periodontics and to train with some of the leading clinicians and researchers in this field, Dr. Hatam joined the University of Pennsylvania in 1993. She received her DMD in 1995, after completing the Program for Advanced Standing Students in the School of Dental Medicine at U of P, and she continued her studies in the Department of Periodontics, where she received her Certificate in May 1998.

Dr. Hatam served as a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania from 1995 through 2007. She was the Clinical Director of Undergraduate Peridontics from 1999 to 2002. Dr. Hatam has received many prestigious teaching awards, including the Joseph Appelton Teaching Award and the distinguished Outstanding Teacher Award of the School of Dental medicine. She works as a periodontist in the University's Intramural Offices.
