With All-On-4, Dr. Hatam places four implants in the jawbone to support a full arch of replacement teeth.

All-On-4 replacement teeth resemble conventional dentures but are slimmer, lighter, and less bulky. They attach permanently to the implants using abutments such as balls, magnets, or studs. These overdentures are held firmly in place, eliminating slipping, clicking, and sore spots often associated with traditional, removable dentures.

The All-On-4 Dental Implant Treatment

There are several steps leading to the All-On-4 surgery. First is a consultation with Dr. Hatam, who will examine your teeth and jawbone to determine whether All-On-4 is the best option for replacing your missing teeth. If needed, Dr. Hatam may recommend gum disease treatment or bone grafting prior to implant placement to ensure your implant procedure is safe and successful.

Using-x-rays and 3D imaging, Dr. Hatam will plan the placement of the implants for optimal stability. On the day of surgery, she strategically places the implants in your jawbone. Immediately after the surgery, she will attach temporary replacement teeth to the implants so you can flash a lovely smile

 the same day.

Once your All-On-4 implants are sufficiently healed, your temporary prosthetic is replaced with a permanent arch of replacement teeth. The result is a complete set of replacement teeth that fit, function, and look like your natural teeth. For the first 6-8 weeks following surgery, you will be on a soft diet so your implants can fully integrate with your jawbone without shifting.

All-On-4 Aftercare

Dr. Hatam suggests taking 2-3 days off after your All-On-4 dental implant treatment, especially if your job is physically demanding. For the first few days, resting at home is crucial to give your mouth time to heal. Do not engage in strenuous activities, get plenty of rest, and be sure to hydrate.

It will take a few months for your All-On-4 implants to fuse with the surrounding jawbone. Until the fusion is complete, eat a soft food diet. Do not eat anything crunchy, hard, or brittle. You should avoid drinking through a straw or sucking on hard candies, which can interfere with osseointegration (the process of the implants fusing with the jawbone).

You may have some bruising and pain for 2-3 days following surgery. However, most patients are pleasantly surprised to realize the pain is much less than they feared. Over-the-counter medications and ice packs help. By the end of the first week, any discomfort or swelling should be gone.
